I mean, I want to access to the values of that parameters, not only the name of the attribute.
the field, the paramater could be empty or the user could enter an attribite name.

There's no need for backticks or double quotes.string maskAttribute = chs("../attrMask");
Thanks, but I would like to access to the values of that attribute with a @`chs("../attrMask")`, and I get the same error message when it is empty.

Hi
I am trying to read an primitive attribute name with an string parameter.
and use that parameter in a wrangler
it works if put something into the parameter, but if it is empty I get an error message: "Syntax error, unexpected '=', expecting identifier. (30,72)"
how can I avoid it?
there is a "try" command like python, to deal with this kind of error?
Thanks

something like this:
string groups[] = detailintrinsic(0, 'primitivegroups'); foreach (string g; groups) { if (inprimgroup(0,g,@primnum)==1) { f@`g` = 1.0; } }

I just installed Houdini 19.5 in two different machines, but the menus have different elements, for example "Set External Text Editor"... I can't find the way to set up the external editor in one machine (I know I can set it up with enviroment variables).
Same if I do right click in an HDA.. the option "Edit Extra Sections Source Code" does not exist in one machine.
how it is possible? .. it is the same version!
thanks

thanks graham!
I just saw there is an option RMB/copy parameters on the spare list, and RMB/paste it into the HDA list of parameters.

Hi
I was editing an HDA parameters, but by mistake I edited as spare parameters, when I finish to edit a huge list of parameters I realize my mistake.
There is a way to convert/copy/move my spare parameters to the HDA parameters?
thanks

Hi
I am trying to create a groom variation (a corrective groom), I use the "guidegroom" node to do it.
but even when I have uncheck "Resample all affected guides", it resample my guides, and it change the amoung of points.
there is a way to comb guides and keep the amount of points?
"guidegroom" does not change the amount of point only if every guide has the same amount of points, otherwise it resample it.
thanks

hard to say what the actual question is
…
thanks @tamte
I want to do same I did before. I have an operator path and want to copy a ramp parameter of that node in another node using expressions.

tamte
in Hscript expressions you better use chsop() instead of chs() it will handle conversion to absolute path for you automatically so you just need to add parm name
so for getting the numerical parm using expression it would be something like:ch(chsop("../node")+"/parameter");
Thanks you tamte for this tip.. I will do it.
